GREENWOOD - A Stanley native has been hired as principal of Greenwood Elementary School.

Ronald Fandry, principal for five years at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Elementary School, Courte Oreills, Wisconsin, was hired last week following a closed School Board meeting. He will begin work August 10.

Fandry was an elementary school teacher at Edgar for eight years before becoming principal. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Fifty applications were submitted for the position vacated with the resignation of Charles Pouba, Pouba, Greenwood principal for nine years, will be taking a position at Park Falls Elementary School.

The following Board officers were also elected: Verlyn Sloniker, president; Allan Dallman, vice president; Ken Horn, clerk; and Sandy Maass, treasurer.
