Hamm George “Brownie” (6 Oct 1913 – 19 Apr 1976)

George “Brownie” Hamm Sr., age 62 of 505 North 2nd Avenue, Abbotsford, formerly of the Town of Holway (Marathon Co.), died apparently of a heart attack when working at Sauter Brothers Feed Store, Dorchester, at about 4 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 1976. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville. Burial will be made at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Town of Holway, with the Father Arthur Weber officiated. Parish Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, from Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford. Friends may call at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

George Hamm was born on October 6, 1913 in the Town of Holway. He was married on August 28, 1927 at Medford to Milson Jorstad. He farmed all his life in the Town of Holway, retiring on April 1, 1976. He then moved to Abbotsford and had moved only three weeks ago into their new home.

The deceased was a former member of the Forrest Grove School Board, President of St. Mary’s Cemetery Association, Town of Holway, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Alden Hamm, Stetsonville, Robert Hamm, Spencer, George Hamm Jr., Owen; One daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Margaret) Ramminger, Abbotsford, and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister.
