Wegner, Arthur A. (1 July 1894 – 27 April 1977)

Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe for Arthur A. Wegner of Rt. 3 Neillsville, president of the Clark County fair board and a director of the Warner Insurance Company. Mr. Wegner, 82, a former Seif town chairman and member of the county board of supervisors, was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday, April 27, at Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Ralph Stuebs officiated at the services preceding burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.

Arthur Wegner, son of August and Louise Hemp Wegner, was born July 1, 1894, in the Town of Pine Valley and was educated in schools there. Upon completing his formal education, he farmed on the same farm in the Town of Seif for the remainder of his lifetime, semi-retiring in 1968. His marriage to the former, Selma Kuenkel took place October 14, 1915, at Globe.

Mr. Wegner was very active in many areas during his lifetime. He was a former director of the Co-op Cheese Factory at Tioga, and served on the town board for many years, as assessor and treasurer, and as town chairman for 15 years. He also served on the county board for 15 years. From 1953 to 1972, as a director of The Neillsville Bank. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mr. Wegner was president of that congregation for 22 years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two children, Clarence Wegner and Doris Wegner Struble, both of Neillsville, one sister, Mrs. Elsie Stelloh of Neillsville: and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wayne Grap, Louis Worchel, John Verschay, Ed Perko, George Thoma and Norman Poppe.

The congregation sang, “My Course is Run” and “The Lord’s My Shepherd.” Karen Hoppa was the organist.

Among those from out of town attending the services were, Mr./Mrs. Elmer Hosely, Mr./Mrs. Walter Ott, Mr./Mrs. Leonard Thiede, Mr./Mrs. Elroy Thiel and Mr./Mrs. Albert Schecklman, all of Marshfield, Mrs. Margie Sternitzky, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr./Mrs. Gene Thiede, Tomahawk; Mr./Mrs. H.B. Ballam, Whitefish Bay; Clarence Stelloh, Milwaukee; and Mr./Mrs. Gust Schwark, Waupun.

Many friends and relatives from Greenwood, Loyal, Owen, Fairchild, Granton, Humbird, Stanley, Willard and Alma Center were also in attendance.
