Selves, Hugh (12 July 1895 – 6 March 1977)

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Hugh M. Slves,81, of the Pine View Nursing Home at Black River Falls, who died there Sunday, March 6, following a lingering illness. The Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ was to officiate, and burial was to follow in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Hugh Selves, son of Elmer and Emma Randall Selves, was born July 12, 1895, in the Neillsville area and received his education in local schools. His marriage to the former Bessie E. Rose took place June 23, 1915, in Neillsville. Mrs. Selves preceded her husband in death on February 17 of this year.

Mr. Selves farmed in the Town of Pine Valley and also did masonry work in the area for many years. In 1942, he moved to Michigan where he was civilian employee of the U.S. Navy. He also lived in Texas and in Madison before moving to Black River Falls in 1960. Mr. Selves was a resident of the Pine View Nursing Home for the past two years.

Among survivors are six children, Elliott Selves of Chattanooga, Tn., Mrs. William (Mildred) Ormond of Granton, Mrs. Neva Porath of Black River Falls, Mrs. Irene Kapusta of Neillsville, Mrs. Oscar (Vivian) Halle of Noblesville, In., and Mrs. James (Avis) Martin of Mukwonago; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
