Petersen, Effie (29 Jul 1890 – 22 Mar 1976)

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Thursday, March 25, 1976 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home for Mrs. Effie Petersen, 85. The Rev. Douglas Groenewold, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, will officiate, with burial to be made at Riverside Cemetery.

Visitations may be made at the funeral home after four o’clock this afternoon, Wednesday, March 24.

Mrs. Petersen passed away at 12:30 p.m., Monday, March 22, 1976 at Victory Memorial Hospital, where she had been admitted for treatment last Thursday. She was born Effie Justesen July 29, 1890 in Wallace, Nebraska, and on March 18, 1908 was married to the late Chris Petersen in a ceremony performed in Kirkman, Iowa. The couple came to this community in 1917, settling on a farm in the Town of Hixon, where they farmed until 1938, when they moved to Withee.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Stella Jorgensen and Mrs. Mattie Reick, Elk Horn, Iowa, and Mrs. Laura Petersen, Vancouver, Canada; one brother, Peter Justesen, Casselton, North Dakota, and four sons, Earl Petersen, Withee, Woodrow Petersen, Owen, and Ernest and Glenn Petersen, both of Green Bay.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, and one brother and a sister.
