Hemminger, Earl T. (6 Jun 1913 – 20 Jan 1976)

Services were held January 23, 1976 for Earl Thomas Hemminger, age 62, a former Withee resident, who died January 20 at Modesto, California. Franklin and Downs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Acacia Memorial Park.

Earl Hemminger was born June 6, 1913 and attended White School in the Town of Hixon. He was a Flight Instructor in Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, and later a flight instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia. He also completed two-hundred and fifty-six missions as a pilot, flying “The Hump” over the Himalayan Mountains. After the war, he drove an auto-transport for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys, Modesto, California; two sons, Dean Hemminger, Wichita, Kansas, Thomas Hemminger, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven daughters: Linda Fulton, Carol Unash, Susan Lockhart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Julie, Mary, Jean and Jane Hemminger, at home; and his mother, Mrs. John Hemminger, Abbotsford, Wisconsin; four sisters, Florence Baxter, Dorothy Beisner, Adele Baxter, Dorchester, Wisconsin, and Harriet Thorne, Owen, Wisconsin, and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sally, and his father, John Hemminger.
