Loyal – Scouts Receive Awards (1976)

At a court of honor for Boy Scout Troop 49 of Loyal last week, Tom Esselman received his Eagle Scout Award. A year ago, he had carried out the work of organizing the successful bike-a-thon to raise funds for the Clark County Cancer Society. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clemens Esselman, Route 2 Loyal.

Other awards were given to Steve Brenner, Scott Schmidt, John Brecht and Billy Trindal, Scout progress; Patrick Schober, Tenderfoot; Alan Hesse and Scott Wepfer, Second Class: Lance Batchelor, Alan Hesse and Scott Wepfer, First Class; and Harry Bentzler, Life Scout.

Those earning Merit badges were Orin Trindal, life-saving; Mark Studinski, water skiing; Tom Esselman, safety; Scott Wepfer, rowing and Scout Life guard; Patrick Schober and Scott Wepfer, printing; Alan Hesse and Scott Wepfer, reading.

Orin Trindal, Scott Wepfer, Mark Studinski, Keith Studinski, Scott Schmidt, Dennis Miller, Mike Langfeldt, John Langfeldt, Tim Hills, Alan Hesse, Dave Bunnell and Rick Brussow, mile swim; David Bunnell, John Langfeldt and Mike Langfeldt, swimming; Lance Batchelor, Alan Hesse, Patrick Schober and Scott Wepfer, citizenship and First Aid.

Tom Wepfer and James Batchelor were in charge of the ceremonies. Also participating was Tim Rose, the district executive.
