Becker, Mary Louise (5 March 1983)

Miss Mary Louse Becker of Parnell, Iowa and James George Detweiler, Williamsburg, Iowa, were married March 5 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford. The Rev. Emil B. Hodnik performed the ceremony for the children of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Becker, Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Detweiler, Williamsburg, Iowa.

Providing the music were Betty Decker, Mrs. Mark Gedamke and Mr. and Mrs. Mark VandeZande.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory empire gown with chapel-length train and a veiled hat. Her cascade bouquet was comprised of ivory carnations and cinnamon roses.

Maid of honor was Miss Susan Carlson of Boulder, Colorado. Bridesmaids were Miss Arla Pachal of Park Falls and Miss Nancy Penshorn, Adams, with Martha Feucht, Mayville, flower girl. The adult aides had tan, rust and ivory calico with ivory lace frocks in princess design. Each had a barrette of flowers and a basket of ivory carnations and cinnamon roses.

Attending the bridegroom were Tom Detweiler, Parnell, and Norman Becker, Colby, groomsmen; and Paul Becker, Loyal, and Allen Schrock, Cedar Rapids, ushers.

Dinner was at St. Bernard's Hall with the reception and dance at the sword, Colby. After a wedding trip to Florida, they will live on Route 1, Parnell, Iowa.

The new Mrs. Detweiler is a 1977 graduate of Loyal High School and a 1980 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She is a programmer analyst for Norand Corp., Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her husband, a 1977 graduate of Williamsburg High School, is a self-employed farmer.
