Geiger, Michael J. (20 September 1903 - 23 February 1983)

DORCHESTER -- Michael J. Geiger, 79, Route 2, Dorchester, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. The Rev. Schaefer will officiate. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester.

He was born September 20, 1903, in Dorchester, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Anna Metz) Geiger. He and Amelia Lang were married September 13, 1927, in Marshfield; she died in 1948. On January 29, 1955 he married Elizabeth Paulus in Dorchester.

He farmed and was an insurance agent for various insurance companies until 1959. He then was self-employed as a plumber and electrician until 1980.

He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, of which he was financial secretary for more than 50 years. He was a Taylor County REA board member; a member of the Dorchester Park Board; a sexton of Dorchester Memorial Cemetery; secretary-treasurer of the cemetery Association; a member of the Dorchester Board of Directors; and was custodian for St. Louis Catholic Church and School.

Surviving is his wife, five sons, Norbert, David and Cyril, all of Dorchester, Paul of Princeton, Illinois and Mark of Sussex; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Margaret) Peissig of Dorchester, Mrs. Richard (Jane) Austin of Auburndale and Sister Therese of Shawano; eight sisters, Mrs. Henry (Mae) Patrie, Mrs. Anton (Anna) Wittman, Mrs. Frances Mueller, Mrs. Henrietta Gundlach, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Pacourek and Mrs. George (Agnes) Pupp, all of Marshfield, Mrs. Victor (Lucy) Carpenter of Spencer and Mrs. Edward (Ethel) Pupp of Wausau; six brothers, Frank of Abbotsford, Joe and Al, both of Wausau, Henry of Hales Corners, Andy of Haines City, Florida, and Leo of Loyal; 34 grandchildren; and 27 great-grand children.

He was also predeceased by a sister, a brother and two grandchildren. Memorials may be given in his name to St. Louis Chair Lift Fund.
