Nemitz, August Carl (9 September 1904 - 4 November 1976)

A lifelong resident of the Town of Pine Valley, August Carl Nemitz, 72, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, died Thursday, November 4, in Neillsville following a brief illness. Services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.

August Nemitz, son of Frederick and Minnie Wetzel Nemitz, was born September 9, 1904, in the Town of Pine Valley and was educated in local schools. He farmed with his parents in the Town of Pine Valley until his August 11, 1937, marriage to the former Meta Schultz, which took place in Neillsville. The couple farmed and he did carpenter work in the Neillsville area for many years. Mr. Nemitz was a member of St. John’s evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two son, Herbert and Melvin Nemitz, both of Neillsville; three brothers, Arthur Nemitz of Neillsville, Louis Nemitz of New Auburn, and Martin Nemitz of Glendive, Mt.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Everett Dux, Melvin Dux, Norman Dux, Robert Nemitz, William Nemitz and James Nemitz.

Mrs. Daniel Krehmeyer sang “The 23rd Psalm” and “I’m But a Stranger Here.” Kathleen Beckmann was the accompanist.

Among those attending the services were the following from out-of-town: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nemitz of New Auburn; Mr. and Mrs. James Nemitz, Mrs. and Mrs. Bill Nemitz and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nemitz and family, Bloomer; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nemitz, Jr., Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Roycraft and family, Minocqua; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dux, Wausau, Mrs. Dorothy Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Olson and family, Janesville; Marvin Wagner, Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Seif, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Shield and family, Wildwood, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cook, Granton; Bernard Pachel; William Oldham, Fairchild; Mrs. Mary Radatz, Mauston; Mr. and Mrs. William Radatz and Mrs. Melford Peterson, Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Burman, Glendive, Mt.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Holman, Humbird.
