Farmers Union names delegates

COLBY -- Six delegates to the State Farmers Union convention were appointed recently by the Hull-Holton Farmers Union.

The convention will be February 14-15 in Stevens Point. Delegated are Eugene Gums William Haas, Marce and Carol Foster, Rudey Kugel and Evelyn Haas. Alternatives are Ervin Meyer, Catherine Olah, Walter Kellner, Frank Tischendorf, Bsrbara Gumz and Gail Anderson.

Gumz, president, discussed the Farmland Preservation Act and the Green Thumb program. Details are available from Meyer.

Four area couples were honored during the TriState Breeders Cooperative annual meeting recently in Westby.

Honored for having a 700-pound herd average were Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kops, Unity: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pinter, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bakke. Curtiss. and Roger Wellman, Colby.

Area delegates attending were Mr. and Mrs. Brice Bender, Dean Haas, Jeff Pinter and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Abegglin, all of Colby; Ed Brehm,George Haas and Gerald Kopps, all of Unity, Russell Buss, Athens; Richard Gumz and Jim Bragg,Abbotsford; Dan Koerner, Richard Gumz and Don Koerner, all of Dorchester, and Val Bychenski, Spencer.

Guest speaker was Orion Samuelson, farm service director of WGN Radio in Chicago.
