Walter Calway, an employee of the furniture factory (Neillsville), was stabbed in the neck by a fellow workman, August Weingarth, Tuesday afternoon. The trouble arose over the shooting of Calway’s bird dog by Weingarth the day before. Weingarth renewed the quarrel Tuesday, and when Calway turned to go, drew an open jackknife from his pocket and stabbed Calway. The wound did not prove fatal, though an inch either way might have done so. Weingarth was arrested with assault with intent to kill. The preliminary trial was held Monday morning before Justice Dudley, and Weingarth was bound over to the next term of circuit court.
