Gilbert, Doris (1 September 1934 – 15 March 2020)

Doris Gilbert, 85, of Stanley, passed away on March 15, 2020, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born on September 1, 1934 in Plainfield, to the late Edward and Bonnie (Abbott) Fitzl. She attended local schools and graduated from Stanley High School. On June 20, 1953 Doris married Lyle Gilbert in Stanley. The couple lived in the Thorp area until they bought a farm in the Town of Worden and started a family. She farmed alongside Lyle until his passing in 1995. She remained on the farm up until her passing. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and going to the casino.

Doris is survived by her seven children, James (Charlene) of Stanley, Dennis of Loyal, Deb (Kim) Barquist of Cadott, Mark of Neillsville, Kathy (Jeff) Klewicki of Stanley, Jackie (Larry) Tatroe of Chippewa Falls and Michael (Alane) of Cadott, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and one sister Donna Harycki of Chippewa Falls.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lyle, her parents, one great-grandchild Lacey Gilbert, her siblings Larry “Bud” Fitzl, Lorraine Halterman, Edith Zimmerman, and Annette Chura.

A public Celebration of Life will be held in the summer.

Plombon Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
