Reit, Virgean C. (30 August 1938 – 4 February 2019)

Virgean C. Reit, 81, of Stanley, passed away on February 4, 2020 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born at home on August 30, 1938 to the late LaRoy and Juriel (Flora) Mattheisen. Virgean attended local schools and graduated from Stanley High School. On November 29, 1958 she married John “Jack” Reit Jr. at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Stanley. The couple farmed in the Town of Edson until 1987. Virgean worked for the next 20 years at La-Grander’s dairy from 1987 until 2007. She enjoyed the Stanley all class reunion. In her free time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and had an extensive horse collection.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Reit of Milwaukee, John Reit III of Stanley, and daughter Debra (Rick) Wilbur of Stanley, her grandchildren, Courtney Wilbur, Ricky (Jennifer) Wilbur, Shauna (Ryan) Lawcewicz, Kayla Wilbur (Mark Lewallen), Kyle Wilbur, Jennifer (Norm) Habersat, Terry Reit (Julie Lee), and Rayne Reit, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents and a brother LaVawne “Sonny” Mattheisen.

A funeral service was be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley with burial following at Edson Union Cemetery. A visitation was held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior on Saturday.
