Tomczak, Lillian W. (22 AUG 1942 – 4 OCT 2020)

Lillian W. Tomczak, age 78, of Thorp, WI, passed away at home on Sunday, October 4, 2020, with her special friends, Joe and Donna Mickle at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17,2020 at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, WI. Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Lillian Wanetta Kestner was born on August 22, 1942, in Lintner, IL, the daughter of Karry N. and Arleen K. (Sanders) Kestner. She was raised on a farm in Gibson City, IL and received her education in area schools, graduating from Flanagan High School in Flanagan, IL. After high school, Wanetta attended Summer's Beauty School and earned her certificate as a Register Beauty Culturist. She was united in marriage to Willis Morrissey in 1964. They moved to Colorado and resided there until his death in 1966. Wanetta moved to Chicago, IL in 1969, and met the love of her life, Steven Tomczak. They were married on March 18, 1972 in Cook County, IL. They resided in the Chicago area, where she worked at J.C. Penney's as a retail sales clerk until retiring in 1989, when they moved to Thorp. After Steve's death on August 11, 2012, Wanetta continued to live at home until moving in with Joe and Donna Mickle, due to her declining health.

She was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, in Lublin, where she was active in the Ladies Aide and later served as sexton for the parish cemetery.

Wanetta is survived by her caregivers: Joe and Donna Mickle of Thorp; her foster daughter: Marlene (Joseph) Czarnecki of Gilman, WI; two grandchildren: Joseph and Melissa Czarnecki of Gilman, WI; two sisters: Beverly Fretty of Paxton, IL and Sharon Tasker of Gibson City, IL; three brothers: George (Becky) Kestner of Pontiac, IL; Jerry (Lena) Kestner of Forest, IL; and Ronald (Phyllis) Kestner of Long Point, IL; one sister-in-law: Florence Waszak of Withee; one brother-in-law: Donald Tomczak, Sr. of Withee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: her husbands, Willis and Steve; three brothers-in-law: Orlan Fretty, David Tasker and Ted Waszak; and sister-in-law: Deb Tomczak.

In lieu of flowers, Wanetta requests that memorials be given to St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Cemetery at PO Box 7, Lublin, WI 54447.
