Our Lady of Fatima, Council 4963, a subordinate Council of the Knights of Columbus, received its charter April 24, 1960. We attribute the birth of our order to our deceased brother and Sir Knight, Albert Davel, who was a Charter Knight of Council #1799.

Most of the seventy-six charter members of Council No. 4963 were already knights, having transferred from the Marshfield Council which was some 20 miles distance.

First officers of the Council were Max Langfeldt, Grand Knight; Father King, Chaplain; Victor Wagner, Deputy Grand Knight; John Bertz, Chancellor; William Kuchenbecker, Financial Secretary; William Theisen, lecturer; Arthur Bushman and Francis Steiner, Assistant Lecturers; Donald Fontaine, Advocate; Michael Weyer, Warden; Buddie Artz, Treasurer; Edward Bauer and Benjamin Bowe, Guards; Raymond McNeely, Donald Champoux, and Harland Brux, Trustees.

Subsequently, the Loyal Council solicited the cooperation of the Thorp Council in a joint effort to establish a chapel for the residents of the Clark County Home at Owen, and to provide funds for the monthly visits there by Father Raphael, O.F.M. These facilities continue to be available to all denominations. Council 4963 also provides funds for spiritual aid to residents of the Neillsville home. Area parochial schools also receive the benefits of the Council in the promotion of forensic activities.
