Mr. Zupanc was born in the village of Gradicek, parish of Krka near Stica. He
came to America in 1899. His wife Mary Horvat was born in St. Jernej area of
Dolenjskem. she came to America in 1901.
They were married in 1902 at Chicago at St. Stejan's. Born to them were five
sons and four daughters. Mr. Zupanc first came to Chicago where he worked for 11
years. In 1910 he went with Mr. Perovsek to look at some land and started
farming, he used to say, "The only place you could see out of the woods was up."
