WAUSAU - Jerome Zygowicz, Colby, was awarded the Silver Beaver Award during
Wednesday's annual meeting and banquet of the Samoset Council, Boy Scouts of
America, in Wausau.
Zygowicz, Scoutmaster of Troop 383, was one of four leaders given the award. The
silver Beaver Award is rthe highest award a council can give to a scouting
leader.
A life scout of Troop 86, Unity, Zygowicz has been a troop leader since 1966 and
a scoutmaster from 1967 to 1981. Some of his recognitions include: Order of the
Arrow, 1967; the Scouter's Key, 1970; Ojibwa Scouter of the Year, 1972;
Woodbadge and Staff, three beads; and the District Award of Merit, 1976. He
served as Jamboree Scoutmaster in 1981.
Zygowicz has one daughter and a son who is an Eagle Scout.
