Joseph Ticer whose homeland was Austria was married to Helen Megla of Germany. They came to Lincoln, Illinois. He worked in the coal mines at night and in the wheat fields during the day.

The Ticers moved from Illinois to Tioga in March of 1927. After settling here Joseph would go back to Illinois to work in the coal mines while the family stayed here and farmed.

They hauled milk to the cheese factory now known as Tioga Inn. The oldest child, Josephine had to haul milk to the factory before going to school which often made her late for classes.

Our mail came by horse and buggy in the summer from Fairchild to Tioga then to Willard. In winter the mail was brought by sleigh driven by Louis Peters of Fairchild. Sometimes our mail was late because Louie would come across wolves on the trail and he mixed business with pleasure.

The Joseph Ticer children were: Josephine (Artac), Joe Ticer, Angeline (Berthold), Molly Ticer and Freida (Benjamin).
