Gurney, Laura (1 March 1942 – 7 February 2020)

Laura A Gurney, age 77, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020. Laura was born March 1, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, and attended Morton High School in Berwyn, IL. Before moving to Florida, September 18, 1998, Laura raised her family in Wisconsin. This is where she was an All-State Champion Bowler, earning 2nd place in all events in the State Woman’s Bowling Tournament. Once relocating to the Sarasota area, Laura aimed for a different kind of pin on the golf course. On March 18, 2002, Laura shot her first hole in one at Village Green Golf Club of Sarasota on the 7th hole, while using her seven-iron from 105 yards away.

Laura is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Charles E Gurney of Sarasota, two sons Todd Gurney (Sherry Gurney), Travis Gurney (Tessa Gurney), and Daughter Trisha Castner (Jim Caster), Son-In-Law Don Finck, spouse is Laura’s predeceased daughter Terri Finck. She is also survived by her two Sisters and Brother, Mary Boyd Babich, Kathleen Pullia, and James Boyd. Laura has 14 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.

She is predeceased by her Parent’s William and Helen Boyd, Daughter Terri Finck, and Brother William J Boyd.

Laura and her husband Charles are residents at The Winds of St. Armand’s and invite all friends to join for a Celebration of Life.

A visitation for Laura will be held Friday, February 14, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 p.m. at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 14, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203, officiated by Reverend Chad Tvenstrup.
