Thorp Citizens Honor the Fallen (27 May 2013)

Pictured, the members of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Boy & Girl Scouts, Poppy Princesses, and the Thorp Middle and High School bands march their way down Washington Street to Veteran’s Park with citizens gathered along the sidewalks to pay their respects.

On Monday, May 27, Memorial Day, the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Boy and Girl Scouts, and the Poppy Princesses marched to the tunes of the Thorp middle and high school marching bands in honor of the fallen men and women who fought for America’s freedom. Beginning the parade at the American Legion, the group ended their march at the tank on south Washington Street where a crowd had gathered for the Memorial Day service.

At the ceremony, attendees were greeted by Legion Commander, Rich Szymanski. A variety of speakers addresses the crowd, all paying homage to the men and women who served their country proudly and gave all that they had to give before the final firing squad and moment of silence.
