Mohr, Ruby (Marriage - 4 September 1954)
Baskets of red and white dahlias, pink and white hydrangeas and salmon and white
gladioli decorated the inside of St. John’s Evangelical Church, Neillsville,
when the Rev. Alfred Schewe heard the marriage vows of Miss Ruby Mohr and Harry
Ambelang, both of Neillsville, during a 2:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony,
Saturday, Sept. 4. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Ambelang, Rt.
2 Neillsville.
As the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mohr, Neillsville was escorted to the altar
by her father, she wore a tiered gown of imported Chantilly lace over satin with
molded bodice and mandarin collar. Her fingertip veil of imported illusion net
was secured by a headpiece of net flowers and pearls and she carried a bouquet
of red roses caught with lace ribbons.
The maid of honor, Miss Beatrice Mohr, sister of the bride, wore a blue
strapless gown of three tiers of net-over-taffeta with a satin jacket accented
by mandarin collar and matching gauntlets. She carried a fan shaped bouquet of
Talisman roses and delphinium.
Miss Dorothy Mohr, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Estelle Wojtowicz, were the
bridesmaids wore similar scrim-colored ensembles. The two flower girls were
Alaina Mohr and Donna Mohr, nieces of the bride. They were attired in white
frocks identical to the bride’s and carried miniature replicas of the bridal
bouquet.
Harold Mohr, brother of the bride, performed bestman duties for the groom, and
groomsmen were Donald Mohr, brother of the bride, and Wilson Bohnhoff. Ernest
Mohr and William Erpenbach helped to seat the guests in church.
A reception for 102 guests was held at the Lutheran School at 5 p.m. followed by
a wedding dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom.
The couple are both graduates of Neillsville High School and when they return
from a honeymoon trip to Northern Minnesota, they will reside on R. 2
Neillsville, where the groom is engaged in farming. She was formerly employed at
Auto Test, Inc., Neillsville.
Among the out-of-town guests were Miss Minnie Klein and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Belling and sons, Eugene and Duane, Rosendale; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Toll,
Eldorado; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Newton, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gottschalk
and sons Marlon and Kenneth, and Florence Argonek and son Michael of Milwaukee;
and Miss Agnes Mohr, St. Paul, Minn.
