Dake, Alfred H. (21 MAR 1896 – 23 OCT 1965)

Funeral services for Alfred Harry Dake, 69, town of Johnson (Marathon Co., Wis.), who died Saturday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Wood, were held Tuesday afternoon.

The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, until noon Saturday, when it was taken to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan, where services were conducted at 1:30 by the Rev. Ferdinand Timler. He was a member of that church.

Military rites were conducted at the Milan Cemetery, where interment was made.

The pallbearers were Bill Brown, Elmer Hamann, Rueben Hamann, Don Marquardt, Fred Marquardt, and Victor Schmidt.

Mr. Dake was born March 21, 1896 in Sheboygan County. After his marriage to Helen Graffunder, January 28, 1920, in the town of Holton, the couple farmed in the town of Johnson.

He was a member of VFW Post 8527 in Athens. Mr. Dake served in World War I and received a Purple Heart for having been wounded in action.

Surviving him are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Detko of Waukesha, and one son, Archie, of Stetsonville, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves one sister.

One son, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
