Decker, Lavonne (21 AUG 1965)

Saturday, August 21, 1965 was the wedding day for Miss Lavonne Decker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Decker of route 1, Owen, and Ronnie Runge of Milwaukee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Runge of route 1, Unity. The exchange of vows took place in a 2 o’clock ceremony at North Green Grove Lutheran Church, with Pastor Robert Westad of Chelsea officiating.

For the ceremony, Miss Judy Lube was organist and Miss Beverly Schmidt sang “O Perfect Love” and “Because.”

Attending her sisters as maid of honor was Miss Carol Decker of Galato, Montana. Miss Jeannie Rankel of route 2, Colby, Miss Diane Peissig of Owen, and Miss Susan Runge of Unity were bridesmaids, and Miss Tammie Moede, Unity, the bride’s niece, was the flower girl.

Gary Schaeffer, route 2, Colby, a friend, was best man. Dennis Runge of Unity and Duane Runge, brothers, and Whitey Kilty, a friend, all of Milwaukee, completed the wedding party.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a peau de soie floor-length gown with a chapel train. The scoop neckline of the basque bodice was trimmed with lace which was repeated in the full hoop skirt. She wore a fingertip veil and carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations.

The bride’s attendants carried colonial bouquets of white mums and tinted carnations to match their dresses, romance blue for the maid of honor, sea green, festive rose and antique gold for the bridesmaids. Their floor length gowns had three-quarter length sleeves, bateau necklines and bow accent at the waists.

The flower girl was a miniature bride in her attire.

Festivities of the wedding day included a reception at Unity Hall and a wedding dance at Sportsmen’s Park, Colby.

After a wedding trip to Canada, northern Wisconsin and states west, the new Mr. and Mrs. Runge are now at home at 2079 South 35th Street, Milwaukee. The groom is employed at Rex Chain Belt Company.

Both young people attended the Colby High School, the bride being a 1965 graduate.
