Christman, Claire C. (14 October 1909 - 4 July 1981)

NEILLSVILLE -- Claire C. Christman, 71, of Memorial Home, Neillsville, a town of Grant native died Saturday at Memorial Home.

Services will be Tuesday at Gesche Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph Henseler, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

He was born October 14, 1909 in the town of Grant, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Christman. He received his education there and at Neillsville. He was employed for several years in Milwaukee.

After marriage to the former Agnes Gertschen August 19, 1930, on Oconomowoc, he moved to the Longwood area where he farmed and did carpenter work. His wife died June 28, 1947, and shortly afterwards he suffered a stroke. He spent a number of years in a nursing home and the past 17 years at Memorial Home.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Laurabelle) Francel of Racine, Mrs. Joe (Clara) Raya of Citrus Heights, California, Mrs. Lars (Irene) Larson of Green Bay, and Mrs. Edwin (Martha) Jensen of Wausau; three sons, Charles of British Columbia, Canada, Cecil of Mobile, Alabama, and Donald of Elkhorn; one sister, Mrs. Ellsworth (Nora) Sherwood of Neillsville; 24 grandchildren; and two-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, three brothers and two sisters. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
