Gabriel, Mary (30 OCT 1971)

Miss Mary Gabriel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alois M. Gabriel, Colby, and Alvin E. Winchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Winchell, Dorchester, were married on October 30, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby. The Rev. Francis Rushman conducted the double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Sister Louise Marie at the organ, provided the nuptial music during the mass, and provided accompaniment for the Children’s Choir, which sang, “O Perfect Love Devine” and “Prayer of St. Francis.”

The bride wore an eggshell sparkle crepe gown fashioned with an empire waist, full gathered sleeves and a floor length skirt, accented with a lavender velvet sash. She carried a spray bouquet of beige straw flowers and colored oats, accented with a beige velvet bow. Her only jewelry was he grandmother’s gold and pearl pennant necklace.

The maid of honor was Miss Roxanne Seefeldt of Unity, and the bridesmaids were Miss Petty Harris of Dorchester and Miss Theresa Morales of Chicago, Illinois.

The maid of honor wore a gown of sparkle crepe, fashioned with an empire waist, full gathered sleeves, and a floor length skirt, with a purple bodice and lavender skirt.

The bridesmaids’ gowns were identical with lavender bodices and purple skirts.

The bride’s attendants carried nosegay bouquets of straw flowers and wheat tied with purple bows.

The best man was William Graham of Stanley. The groomsmen were Ray DeSoto of Stanley and Joseph Gabriel of Chicago, Illinois.

The ushers were Tom Gabriel of Colby and Jack Harris of Dorchester.

A reception and buffet supper were held at the Memorial Hall, Unity.

The bride is a 1971 graduate of Colby High School and is employed as a receptionist for Dr. Richard Anderson, Abbotsford.

The groom is a graduate of the Dor-Abby High School, served four years in the U.S. Marines, and is employed at Liberty Homes of Dorchester.

Following a wedding trip to Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Winchell will reside in Dorchester.
