Osgood, Ruby A. Sockness (1935 - 22 November 1981)

NEILLSVILLE - Mrs. Fred (Ruby A.) Osgood, 46,Neillsville, died Sunday at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Services will be Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cornell, with the Rev. James Leschensky officiating. Burial will be in Cornell Cemetery. Friends may call at the Borton Funeral Home in Cornell.

Pallbearers will be John Schneider, Dean Hetchler, Harold Hetchler Jr., Urban Gass, Dale Short and Dale Hyland.

The former Ruby A. Hyland was born in Chetek and moved to Cornell as a young girl. She was married to Earl Sockness January 22, 1955 in Cornell. He died in 1973. She later was married to Fred Osgood April 22, 1978 in Chippewa Falls and then moved to Neillsville. He survives.

She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America and the Women's Relief Corps No. 10 Auxiliary to the Grand Army of America.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Kringle, Bloomer, and Mrs. Bertha Smith, Chippewa Falls; a son, Leonard Sockness, York; six stepsons, Thomas, Charles and Fred Osgood Jr., all of Chippewa Falls, Ray Osgood, New Auburn and David and Robert Osgood, both at home; three step-daughters, Mary Osgood, at home, Hattie Osgood, Chippewa Falls and Mrs. Mabek Flick, Greenwood; four brothers, Emery Hyland Jr., Chetek, Robert Hyland, Holcombe, LaWayne Hyland, Sturtevant, and Maynard Hyland, Bogalusa, Louisiana; seven sisters, Mrs. Violet Hover, Cameron, Mrs. Margaret Hartzell, Gillman, Mrs. Lilie Knez, Fall Creek, Mr. Helen Alvord, Chetek, Mrs. Ilabell Liedel, Withee, Mrs. Yvonne Hetchler, Bloomer, and Miss Patricia Hyland, Withee; six grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren.

She also raised six nieces and nephews.
