St, Mary’s Catholic (Pastoral Assistant - 1976)

Dr. Guy William Beck has joined the staff of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville as a pastoral assistant. Dr. Beck will be an all-around assistant to the pastor, with special emphasis in directing the parish school of religion.

Dr. Beck received his doctor of philosophy degree in theology on December 18, 1975, following two years of study in graduate theology at Aquinas Institute of Theology, Dubuque, Iowa.

He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy with a minor in Biblical languages from St. John’s University, Collegeville, Mn., in 1970, after spending his freshman year at Jesuit College (Jesuit novitiate), St. Bonifacius, Mn., and his sophomore year at Sacred Heart Seminary, Oneida.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Dr. Beck studied theology for one year at the School of Divinity, St. John’s University, Collegeville, Mn., and spent a second year at North American College, Rome, Italy, where he took courses at the University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome, and at the Oriental language faculty of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome.

The new staff member was born November 29, 1947, in Oshkosh, and attended public and parochial elementary schools in Neenah. His high school days were spent at Sacred Heart Seminary, Oneida.

Dr. Beck is married; his wife’s name is Ruth Ellen.
