Karnitz, Thone Ben (1 June 1896-5 April 1981)

NEILLSVILLE -- Thone B. Karnitz, 84, of 507 W. Sixth St died Sunday at Memorial Hospital. Death followed a brief illness.

Services will be Thursday at Pine Valley Lutheran Church, the Rev. Maynard Stokka officiating. Burial will be in Pine Valley Cemetery.

Mr. Karnitz was born June 1, 1894 in the town of Pine Valley to Frederick and Maria (Huhn) Karnitz. He was educated there and lived on the family farm until November. He was a member of the Pine Valley Lutheran Church Council and also was a school board member.

On June 20, 1928 in Greenwood, he and Selma Miller were married. She survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Lois) Smetana of Black River Falls; a son, Kenneth of Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Alma) Durst of Neillsville and Mrs. Jake (Lillie) Wallace of Lake Villa, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. His parents and three brothers are deceased.

Karnitz, Thone B. (1 June 1896 – 5 April 1981)

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, April 9, for Thone B. Karnitz, 84, who passed away on April 5, at Pine Valley Lutheran Church in Neillsville, with Rev. Maynard Stokka officiating.

Following the services at which Elsie Sischo and Cindy Strangfeld offered special music, Karnitz was buried in the Town of Pine Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Henning, Ted Lewis, Melvin Dux, Gordon Sharratt, Hans Kalsow and Harris Schoengarth.

Attending the services were relatives and friends from Northbrook and Lake Villa, Il.; and the Wisconsin communities of Land O’Lakes, Wausau, Marshfield, Granton, Port Edwards, Greenwood, Lomira, Black River Falls, La Crosse and Loyal.
