NEILLSVILLE-- Mrs. Emma J. Kauffman, 91, Orange, California, formerly of Neillsville, died Friday at Parkview Convalescent Hospital, Anaheim, California.

The funeral will be Wednesday at Gesche Funeral Home with her son-in-law, the Rev. Ralph H. Didier, officiating. Burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery.

She was born October 3, 1889 in Chadron, Nebraska to John A. and Milanda J, (Lane) Jeffrey. The family moved to Illinois, where she was educated. She taught school in Stanford, Illinois and then lived in Iowa for six years.

They came to Clark County in 1920 and farmed in the town of Fremont. They moved to Neillsville in 1945. They observed their 54th wedding anniversary before his death in 1963.

A lifetime member of the Christian Church in Stanford, She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Leone) Didier of Orange, with whom she resided the past five years; a son, Everett Kauffman of Chili; one sister, Mrs. Maude Thompson of Springfield, Missouri; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, six sisters and two brothers are deceased.

Kauffman, Emma J. (3 October 1889 – 3 April 1981)

Funeral services were held for Emma J. Kauffman, 91, on Wednesday, April 8, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. She had passed away on April 3.

Offering music, including “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle” were Holley Pisors and Leora Bezlyk. Rev. Ralph Didier officiated, with burial made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Homer Webster, Henry Knoll, Harold Schlinsog, Robert Elmhorst, Ross Stevens and Robert Ashton.

Attending the services from out-of-town were the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Didier, Orange, Ca.; Robert and Jean Ashton and children, Watervliet, Mi.; and Kathleen Campbell and children Mundelein, Il.
