Seif, David, (6 May 1880 – 26 May 1976)

A Clark County native, David A. Seif of Memorial Home, died Wednesday, May 26, at the age of 96 following a lingering illness. Services were held Saturday from the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

David Seif, son of Frederick and Mary Weisner Seif, was born May 6, 1880, in the Town of Sherwood and moved to the Town of Seif with his parents. He received his education at the Worchel School, then worked with his father in the logging industry.

After his marriage to Meta Klann, he and his wife homesteaded in Montana. They later returned to Clark County and farmed in the Town of York. The first Mrs. Seif died in 1927.

Mr. Seif was married to Mrs. Margaret Foemmel on October 12, 1946, in Neillsville. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his second wife, include two daughters, Mrs. John (Gladys) Rychnovsky of Neillsville and Mrs. James (Ester) Maricle of Waukegan, Il.; two stepsons, Raymond Foemmel of Granton and Ervin Foemmel of Neillsville; and 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Rychnovsky, Jr., James Maricle, Jr., William Maricle, Ed Maricle, Arlyn Bryan and Roger Foemmel.

Mary Peters sang “Rock of Ages” and “O for a Closer Walk with God.” Deon Spangler was the accompanist.
