Hennes, Mary (Marriage – 1 May 1976)

Married in a 2 p.m. ceremony May 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, were Miss Mary Hennes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Hennes, R. 5, Marshfield, and Keith Bass, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bass, Rt. 1 Granton. The Rev. Peter J. Leketas of Sacred Heart and the Rev. Stephen N. Engelstad of Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton, performed the ceremony.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, entered the church in a white floor-length gown of silk organza and Chantilly lace complimented by a chapel-length veil. Her flowers were red roses and white gardenias.

Miss Janet Werner, maid of honor, and Miss Connie Bartsch, bridesmaid, both of Marshfield, donned floor-length gowns of flocked Nile green organza over taffeta accented by white picture hats. Each held a bouquet of white and green gardenias.

Roger Nitschke, Granton, served as bestman, and William Hennes, as groomsman. Guests were seated by James Hennes, Marshfield, and David Tyler, Granton.

Martin Hillert, Jr., was the soloist and Mrs. Gary Dahl was the organist for the occasion.

Wedding day events included a dinner, reception and dance at the KC Hall in Marshfield.

The bride, a 1970 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and a graduate of Stevens Point School of Practical Nursing, is employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. The bridegroom is a 1969 graduate of Granton High School who completed the University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm Short
Course in 1970. Since that time, he has been in the business of farming with his father.

Following a wedding trip to the Black Hills and other places of interest, a new home awaits the couple on Rt.1 Granton.
