Dankemyer, Martin A. (21 July 1890-23 January 1981)
CHILI-- Martin A. Dankemyer, 90, Route 1, who had served as director and
president of Lynn Mutual Insurance Company died today at Memorial Hospital,
Neillsville.
The funeral will be Sunday at Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield. Burial will be in
Yolo Cemetery. The Rev. Horst W. Augustin of Christ Lutheran Church is to
officiate.
Pallbearers, all grandsons of Mr. Dankemyer, will be William Jr. and Tom
Dankemyer, Phillip Johnson, Gerald and Gary Luchterhand, Ted and Tracy Todd and
John Maretti.
Mr. Dankemeyer was born July 21, 1890 in the town of Fremont to Mr. and Mrs.
August (Caroline Hanke) Dankemyer. He attended Big Four School in that township
and an automotive school in Milwaukee in 1911.
His marriage to Martha Voigt took place April 5, 1911 in Milwaukee. They
observed their 60th wedding anniversary in 1971.
He farmed all of his life in the town of Fremont. He became a director of Lynn
Mutual Insurance Company in 1935. The next year, he was elected vice-president
of that company in 1951. He held that office until 1962 when the Fire and
Tornado companies merged.
He served on the Big Four School Board; was a member of Neillsville Lodge of
Free and Accepted Masons; was a director of Riverside Cheese Factory many years;
served as director of First National Bank, Neillsville, 17 years; and was a
member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; one son, William Sr. of Chili; one daughter, Mrs. Elmer
(Wanda) Johnson of West Allis; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William, Granton, and Leo, Chili; and
one sister, Mrs. Hannah Loos, Mayo, Maryland. One brother is deceased.
