Lamont, Kathleen Ann (12 Jun 1971)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby was the setting Saturday, June 12, 1971 for the marriage vows of Miss Kathleen Ann Lamont, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Angus D. Lamont, Colby (Clark Co., Wis.), and James K. Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Harris, Dorchester (Clark Co.).

Father Frank Rushman performed the 5 p.m. ceremony. Soloists were Luke and Rachel Meurett, and the organ accompanist was Mrs. Bernadette Gabriel.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white nylon organza over taffeta gown with high lace collar, bishop sleeves with wide cuffs, empire waist and slightly gathered skirt with Venice lace trim and tiny pink flowers down the center front. The cathedral length veil was edged with Venice lace. She carried a bouquet of white gladiolas, pink roses, lilies of the valley and baby’s breath.

The bride’s sister, Miss Mary Lamont, the maid of honor, and bridesmaids, Miss Donna and Miss Peggy Lamont work pink, blue and yellow dresses of ribbed organza with self-ruffle neckline, A-line skirts with gathered back and semi-empire waist. Their tulle picture hats had matching embroidery trim and satin ribbons. They carried bouquets of white, pink, blue and yellow daisies to match each dress.

Greg Poster of Colby was the best man. The groomsmen were Russell Harris Jr., and Alvin Winchell, Dorchester. Ushering duties for the service were performed by Mike Lamont and Jack Harris.

Immediately following the ceremony a buffet supper was served in the church hall, following by a reception and dance at Dorchester Memorial Hall.

The new Mrs. Harris graduated from Wisconsin State University, Eau, Claire, on May 29, 1971. Her husband graduated from Colby High School and is serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, presently stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where the couple will reside.
