Pietenpol, Navy Machinist’s Mate 3-c Daniel D. (Service Notes - 1976)

Navy Machinist’s Mate 3-c Daniel D. Pietenpol, 32, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard L. Pietenpol of Neillsville, is serving aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Little Rock and recently participated in Fleet Exercise, “National Week.”

Twenty-six ships and over 17,000 men took part in the exercise held in the Tyrrhenian Sea, between mainland Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. The exercise was part of the Sixth Fleet’s realistic readiness training and included surface ship, submarine, amphibious, logistic, and aviation operations.

The USS Little Rock is home ported in Gaeta, Italy.

A 1960 graduate of Granton High School, he joined the Navy in June 1974.
