Schmidt, Andrew (18 September 1899-14 September 1979)

LOYAL-- Funeral services for Andrew Schmidt, 79, of 310 S. Union St., were held this morning at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt died Friday at his home.

Born September 18, 1899 in the town of York, he attended Pleasantview School and St Anthony's Parochial School.

On February 12, 1934, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, he married Mary Gebauer. After marriage, they farmed near Spokeville. He retired due to an accident and the couple moved to Loyal. Besides farming, he did mason work.

He was affiliated with St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a school board member at Spokeville for many years.

His wife survives along with three sons, Donald Schmidt of Marshfield, Andrew Schmidt Jr. of Edgar, and Dr. Jerome Schmidt of Edgar; three daughters, Mrs. John (Evelyn) Schultz of Spencer, Mrs. Walter (Dorothy) Ertl of Medford and Mrs. Lawrence (Marie) Waldhauser of Minneapolis; and 20 grandchildren.

Surviving brothers ans sisters are Edward and Allie, both of Loyal, George of Marshfield, Mrs. Elsie Adler of Minneapolis and Mrs. Ray (Margaret) Horn of Loyal. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.

Pallbearers for today's services were Jeffrey, Anthony, Dale and Eugene Schmidt, Steven Waldhauser and Tony Walter Sr. The Rev. Chester J. Osowski officiated and Rinka Funeral Home handled arrangements.
