Lenore Fischer (1 Mar 1921 - 15 Jan 2004)

Lenore Fischer, 82, Colby, died Thursday, Jan 15, 2004, at Colonial Center Colby.

Mrs. Fischer was born March 1, 1921, in the town of Little Black, to Henry and Irene (Rhyner) Fritsche. Her marriage to Herbert Fischer took place on Jan. 8, 1944 in Moultrie, Ga. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17. 2001.The couple owned and operated Fischer’s Bar and Grocery in the town of Hoard from 1950-1967. They then moved to Englewood, Fla., returning to Curtiss in 2001.

Survivors include her children, Dennis (Florence) Fischer, Ringle, Bonnie Hamm, Coon Rapids, Minn., Marjean Poehnelt, Curtiss, Shirley Griesbach, Medford, and Darlene (Roland) Geiger-Bostwick, Grand Rapids, Mich; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grand-children, two sisters, Arlene Decker, Eau Claire, and Beverly Hoffman, Stetsonville, and one brother, Art (Elaine) Fritsche, Dorchester.

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert Fritsche.

Funeral services were held Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. The Rev. James Schaefer presided. Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Hamm, Jerry Hamm, Derek Poehnelt, John Fischer, Jeff Greisbach and Tim Geiger.

A memorial will be set up in Mrs. Fischer’s name at a later date.

Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester, assisted the family with arrangements.
