Bertz, John "Jack" Sr. (15 March 1911-13 December 1979)

LOYAL--Services are set for Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church for Jack Bertz, Sr. The Rev. Chester J. Osowski will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Bertz, 68, of 312 N. Reese, Greenwood, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. He was admitted there the previous day after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Friends may call Sunday at Rinka Funeral Home where the Parish Council of Catholic Women will say a rosary Sunday.

Mr. Bertz was born here Marsh 15, 1911 and attended the parochial school. He farmed in the town of Loyal until 1940 and then in the town of Eaton until 1956. He owned and operated Jack's Bar for four years, later operated a pulping and logging business and also did whitewashing of barns. He moved to Greenwood in 1971.

On August 22, 19333 at Greenwood, he and Cecelia Schmitz were married. She survives along with three children, Jack Jr. of Loyal, Kenneth of Hewitt, and Mrs. Ralph (Roberta) Warmuth of Sun Prairie; and seven grandchildren.

His surviving brothers and sisters are Harold of Loyal, Leo of Pembine, Mrs. Alice Hasse of Seattle Washington and Mrs. Robert (Gwen) Strathman of Colby.

Ed Gregorich, Frank Thomas, Hubert Schmitz, Richard Rondorf, Jake Barr and Bill Herr are to serve as pallbearers.
