Wendt, Alvin F. (17 April 1904 – 1 October 1975)

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the United Methodist Church for Alvin F. Wendt, 71, of Neillsville, who died October 1 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Mn. The Rev. William Noble officiated, and burial followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.

Alvin Wendt, son of Fred and Minnie Raether Wendt, was born April 17, 1904, in the Town of Pine Valley and received his education in Neillsville and Alma Center schools. For a time, he farmed with his father om the Town of York and later, in the Town of Levis.

His marriage to the former Luella Berrett took place November 26, 1939, in Neillsville. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Town of Levis until 1958 when they moved to Neillsville where Mr. Wendt was employed by the Neillsville Public Schools for 11 years, retiring in 1969. He formerly served as janitor at the United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three children, Mrs. Franklin (Edris) Hrasky of Neillsville, Melvin Wendt of Helena, Mt., and Mrs. Ronald (Janice) Hribar of Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Stuhlman of Weyauwega and Miss Eva Wendt of Neillsville, one brother, Frederick Wendt of Neillsville and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were George Luebke, Fred Palmer, Ludwig Hribar, Berhardt Scheel, Forest Gault and Pete Smith.

Mrs. Cora Noble sang “Saved by Grace” and “Children of the Heavenly Father.” Mrs. Iris Musil was the accompanist.

Among relatives from out of town attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wendt of Helena, Mt., Mrs. Paul Stuhlman and granddaughter of Weyauwega, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Berrett and Shelby of Rhinelander, Mr. and Mrs. Verland Brandt of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Emory Voie of Fond du Lac. Many other friends and relatives from Wisconsin and Michigan also attended.
