Gautsche, William E. (1895 – 22 AUG 1975)

William E. Gautsche, 79, a former resident of this area, passed away on Friday, August 22, 1975 at New London, Wisconsin, after a short illness. He was born in Metamora, Illinois in 1895 and moved to a farm in the Town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1916. In 1918 he married the former Susan Hohn and they lived and farmed in the Wolters Corner area (Clark Co.). Bill was on the Longwood Town Board for many years. In 1947 they moved to New London, where he farmed and was also a Real Estate Salesman. His wife preceded him in death in 1971. He is survived by five children, Mrs. Art (Eleanor) Holasek, Marcel, Minnesota, Gerald, San Diego, California, Bill Jr., Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Mrs. Elmo (Lois) Vance, Torrance, California, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Smith, Ogdensburg, Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, Annika Larsen, Clay Center, Kansas; two nieces, Mrs. Valera Von Wald, Eau Claire, and Mrs. Shirley Vance, Hortonville; one nephew, James Schilleman, Neenah.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 26th, 1975 at the Cline Hanson Funeral Home, New London, with burial in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.

Casket bearers were: Leo Stewart and Walter Klay of Withee, Wm. Schmidt, Ed Lathrop and Glenn Hoag, New London, and Wendell Maxted of Antigo.
