Hinrichs, Eva Jean (3 SEP 1927 – 6 APR 2019)

Eva “Jean” (Lang) Hinrichs, 91, Madison, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019. A family time of remembrance will be held at a later date.

Born at home on her family’s dairy farm in the central Wisconsin community of Withee on Sept. 3, 1927, she was the third of eight children (Donald, Bernal, Eva Jean, Kermit, Norman, Roger, Nina and Russel) of Ralph “Edwin” Lang and Opal Gladys (Looker) Lang. She lived on the Withee farm until she was 11, moved with her family to another dairy farm in Unity, graduated from Loyal High School in 1945, and finally made the move to Madison in 1949. Soon after Jean arrived, she met Edward Hinrichs while working at the Wolff, Kubly and Hirsig warehouse. Their first date was at the Ice Cream Shoppe on Regent Street near Camp Randall stadium in Madison. They married one year to that day on April 22, 1950, in Greenwood.

Jean is survived by her son, Mark (Thorin Theeradejvanichkul) Hinrichs; her daughter, Susan (Robert) Anderson; a grandson, Joshua, of Minneapolis, Minn.; a granddaughter, Rebecca (Matthew) Bryant; two great-granddaughters, Isla and Olivia Bryant of Sun Prairie; a sister, Nina (Joe) Beland of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Russel (Lou Ann) Lang of Monroe, La.; and cousins and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 2001; five of her brothers; Ed’s twin brother, Arthur Hinrichs; and dear friends Stan and Bernie Sherwood
