Ziehlke, Fumiko O. (Kanda) (15 MAR 1926 - 31 MAR 2019)

Fumiko O. Ziehlke, 93, of the city of Medford passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Aspirus Care & Rehab, Medford where she had resided for the past 15 months.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Friday, June 21, 2019.

Fumiko was born on March 15, 1926, at Kuraray, Japan. She was educated at Japan Catholic elementary and high schools. On May 12, 1954, at Kove, Japan, she was married to Henry W. Ziehlke Jr. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1990.

After her education, she worked as an accountant in a ship building business. After the end of WW II she worked as a bilingual interpreter. After marriage, she moved to the Town of Little Black in 1955 and worked the Ziehlke family farm with her husband until retirement in 1985. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, gardening & spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by children Joan Ziehlke of Fayetteville, NC, Carl (Brenda) Ziehlke of Menomonie, WI, Edward Ziehlke of Owen, Jim Ziehlke of Medford, Ronald (Sandy) Ziehlke of Coppers Cove, Texas; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren; and one brother.

Fumiko is predeceased by her parents, Kyuhichi and Chiyo (Ogino) Kanda; and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be given to any Hospice organization of their choice.
