Wiedenhoeft, Gilbert J. (8 MAR 1911 – 13 AUG 1970)

Gilbert Wiedenhoeft, 59, a lifetime resident of the Colby and Unity (Clark Co., Wis.) area, died unexpectedly at his home in Unity Thursday morning, August 13, 1970. His death was caused by a hart attack.

Funeral services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. The Rev. Robert Sutherland officiated at the services.

Burial was made in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Lulloff Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were William Schultz, Robert Strathman, Forrest Johnson, Corwin Dallman, Alfred Johnson and Harold Hardrath.

Honorary pallbearers were all members of the Colby School Board, Ansel Messer, Earl Boss, Dr. J.W. Koch, Calvin Schulz, George Kadonsky and William Pinter.

Gilbert John Wiedenhoeft was born in the town of Colby, March 8, 1911. He was educated in Colby schools.

For many years he worked at the Dix Meat Market in Colby. In the late thirties Mr. Wiedenhoeft began his own meat market in Unity. He later established a general merchandise store and market there, which he was operating at the time of his death.

On October 4, 1932 Mr. Wiedenhoeft married Edythe Hardrath, who preceded him in death February 10, 1958. He married Erma Guenther August 20, 1966. She survives him.

Mr. Wiedenhoeft had been a member of the Unity School Board for many years. At the time of his death he was clerk for the Colby Public School Board, of which he had been a member for the last six years.

He was chief of the Unity Fire Department, a member of the Unity Commercial Club and the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors, besides his wife, include his mother, Evelyn Wiedenhoeft of Unity, one sons, Gilbert Jr. of Madison, one daughter, Anita, of Madison, and a brother, Arthur, of Colby, and one sister, Mrs. Mildred Pauls, of Schofield. There are four grandchildren.

One brother is deceased.
