Courchaine, Peter D. (4 JUN 1887 – 10 JUL 1970)

Peter D. Courchaine, 83, of Abbotsford, died Friday, July 10, 1970 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A parish rosary was held at the Polnaszek Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Sunday, and formal services were held Monday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Schuh of St. Louis' Catholic Church of Dorchester officiating. Interment followed in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Harry Hillmeir, Gene Krug, Oliver Lamberty, Leon Tlusty, Walter Tlusty and Bert Willner.

Mr. Courchaine was born June 4, 1887 at Lena, Wisconsin. After his marriage to Veronica Landmesser at Chicago, July 5, 1919, the couple farmed in South Dakota for eight years, then came to Wisconsin, locating near Tomah. About 35 years ago they went to Taylor County and farmed near Medford until retiring in 1963 and came to Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.).

Last year they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Courchaine was a member of St. Bernard's congregation, Abbotsford. He was a veteran of World War I, having servie in the Navy.

All of the family were together for the funeral of Mr. Courchaine. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Miss Phyllis Courchaine, Oak Park, Illinois, and Miss Betty Courchaine, Minneapolis, Minnesota; three sons, Richard, Beulah, Wyoming, Allen, Swan Valley, Idaho, and Joseph, Abbotsford; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.
