Jean L. (Albright) Berger Applebee passed away peacefully in her sleep early the morning of Thursday, March 21, 2019.

Jean was born in Gary, Ind., on Feb. 14, 1929. She is now celebrating in Heaven with family who have gone before her. Among the great cloud of witnesses who welcomed her home are her loving husband, Walter Berger, whom she married March 18, 1950; her father, Edward Albright; her mother, Alice (Tupper) Copland; her brother, Richard Albright; her daughters, Joan Bullock and Wendy (Berger) Anderson Birch; her son, Lawrence Berger; her grandsons, Keith Anderson (infant) and Dean Anderson and her spoiled cocker spaniel, Nugget.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Jack) Keith, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Later in life, she remarried and spent several happy years with Milton Applebee. She attended Living Faith Church in Exeland, until she became home-bound.

Jean worked a number of years at Kroger grocery store in Indiana until she and her children moved north to Ladysmith in 1971. She then became a nurse's aide at Rusk County Memorial Hospital, where she cared for patients for many years and later became a home health care worker.

She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother praying daily for her family. She was a generous person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and will live on in our fond memories... especially at holidays which she loved to celebrate.

A memorial service will be held at a future date to be determined.

Nash-Jackan Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
