Fred Krueger Jr., 47, town of Aurora farmer and also Soo Line section foreman,
was fatally injured Sunday morning at 9:30 when struck by a train while
attempting to remove a handcar from the railroad tracks.
Mr. Krueger, along with Joe Turek and Chester Mich, were traveling south of
Polley on a handcar. They were to clan off some ice that had formed on the
rails. Along the way, they ran into several clouds of heavy fog, making it
necessary to slow down and also stop a couple times.
They were about two miles south of Polley when they saw the shadow of the train.
