Willemssen, Michael J. (2 APR 1939 - 10 FEB 2019)

Michael J. Willemssen, 79, of Rice Lake, formerly of Eau Claire and Chetek, died on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

As were Michael’s wishes, private services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire.

Michael was born on April 2, 1939 to Casey and Erna (Nehiba) Willemssen in Medford where he was raised and attended school. He graduated from Medford High School in 1957. On Nov. 26, 1976 he married Mary Fischer in Eau Claire. Michael worked as a truck driver most of his life for Neuendorf Trucking, which later became ANR, working out of Medford and later Eau Claire, until his retirement in 1995.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and took numerous trips out west. After retiring, he and Mary also spent many winters in Texas.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; and father and mother-in-law, Ervin and Loretta Fischer.

Michael is survived by his wife, Mary of Rice Lake; sons, Perry (Crystal) Willemssen and Brad Willemssen, all of Athens and Chad (Jeneen) Willemssen of Stratford; daughter, Pam (Ken) Stencil of Mount Horeb; grandchildren, Zac (Elyse), Ben (Claire) and Casey (Myranda) Stencil, Dylan and Dakota Willemssen and Ciera Bornheimer; great-grandchildren, Rosen Stencil and one due in June; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes of Cameron and Dallas are assisting the family with arrangements.
