Lucienne Sorenson (5 Dec 1910- 22 Jun 2000)

Lucienne Mary Sorenson, 89, Dorchester, died June 22, 2000, at the Colonial Center in Colby where she had resided the past two years.

Funeral services for Lucienne will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Untied Methodist Church in Dorchester with Rev. Irv Case officiating. Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

The former Lucienne Mary Manney was born Dec. 5, 1910, in Abbotsford, the daughter of Harry and Minnie (nee Wasserman) Manney. Lucienne was a 1928 graduate of Medford High and received her degrees in higher education in English and History from Carroll College in Waukesha, graduating in 1932. Lucienne was a dedicated teacher. She taught high school in Dorchester, Rib Lake, Medford and Owen-Withee, where she was also the librarian, retiring in June 1973.

Lucienne and Lloyd D. Sorenson were united in marriage on June 24, 1937, in Medford. Lloyd died on March 18, 1987.

Lucienne was an active member for 40 years on the Dorchester Library Board. She was a member of the Medford Eastern Star and the Salem United Methodist Church in Dorchester. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano.

Lucienne will be sadly missed by her family and friends, including her son and daughter-in-law, James and Jacquelyn Sorenson of Fredonia; two grandchildren, Andrew Sorenson of Jackson and Jennifer (Brian) Stenberg of Saukville; and great-grandson Griffin Stenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Sorenson; and a sister, Harriet Paul.
