Arthur Siikarla (30 May 1916 – 14 Dec 2000)

Arthur “Art” Siikarla, 84, town of Little Black, Stetsonville, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at the Colonial Center, Colby.

At Art’s request, there will be no public services.

Siikarla was born May 30, 1916, in the town of Hoard, the son of John and Ida (Wepling) Siikarla. On Aug. 31, 1940, Art and Olive Wimer were united in marriage in Medford.

They farmed the family farm until 1957 and then moved west. They returned to the area and purchased a farm in the town of Little Black. Art also worked as a carpenter, truck driver, co-op manager and hardware store operator. He worked in maintenance at Our Lady of Peace Church and School in Marshfield until retiring in 1974.

Survivors include his wife, Olive, Stetsonville; three sons, Terry (Gertrude) Siikarla, Campbellsport, Neal (Cheryl) Siikarla, Greenleaf, and Allen Siikarla, Athens; one daughter, Darla (Ralph) Pernsteiner, Spencer; two sisters, Alli Bradley, Upper Lake, Calif., and Aini (George) Frahmann, Abbotsford; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Armus Siikarla.
