Marlene F. Peterson, 85 of Ladysmith, WI, died Thursday, January 11, 2019 at Ladysmith Care & Rehab.

She is survived by her husband Leland, four daughters: Susan & Richard Waller of Augusta, WI, Cindy Peterson of DePere, WI, Shelly Peterson & Jerome Sisko of Modesto, CA and Christine & Stephen Peterson-Watts of Franklin, WI, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and brother Arnold & Yvonne Root, Jr. of Ladysmith.

A memorial celebration of life will be held at JS Supper Club at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 with Deacon Doug Sorenson officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Nash - Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith where a Scripture Service will be held at 5:30 P.M. Burial will be at a later date.

Marlene F. Peterson, 85, of Ladysmith, passed away at Care & Rehab-Ladysmith on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. She was born on April 24, 1933. She was the beloved wife, best friend and soul mate of Leland J. "Lee" Peterson, Jr. for 66 years.

Marlene was a graduate of Ladysmith High School in 1951 and married Lee in 1952 while he was serving in the Air Force. Throughout their marriage, they moved 19 times to eight different states and built four houses.

She was passionate about volunteer work, both at her church and both local nursing homes. She achieved over 10,000 hours of volunteer service over a span of more than 25 years. Marlene loved sewing, knitting, needlepoint, baking, gardening and watching wildlife, but her greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Richard) Waller of Augusta, Cindy of DePere, Shelly (Jerome) of Modesto and Christine (Steven) Peterson-Watts of Franklin. She is a grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of nine. She is further survived by her brother Arnold (Yvonne) Root, Jr. of Ladysmith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Arnold Root, Sr. and Margaret (Moss) Root.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Care & Rehab-Ladysmith as well as Deacon Doug Sorenson for the care provided. "You are the best!"
